Session Three:
Harvest Season & Blueberry Varieties

Highbush blueberry season in Missouri starts around June 15, although this can vary by up to seven days in a given year.  The blueberry varieties we grow here in the state can be broken into three groups, based upon their ripening sequence:  early-season varieties such as Collins and Duke; mid-season varieties such as Bluecrop and Blueray; and late-season varieties such as Lateblue, Colville and Elliott.  By choosing several different varieties a blueberry grower can harvest fruit for four to six weeks.
